We’re looking for a Director, Foundation & Government Relations!

 

What you’ll be doing:

The Director, Foundation & Government Relations provides oversight and manages the operations of the department including relationship building and management of strategic partners. This individual facilitates grant requests, funding with foundations, corporate giving programs, government entities, and production donors for all station projects including new digital initiatives, podcast production and acquisition, and BTPM radio and television productions. This individual is responsible for reviewing and approving all grant requests and serving as the liaison for our Board of Directors, local and regional government officials and representatives, and PBS and CPB program funder recognition. 

This position can be hybrid – a blend of remote and in-office work. In summary, this individual will:

  •  Serve as the department lead or foundation and community outreach
  • Oversee the development of grant proposals to local, regional and national foundations, corporate giving programs, and government agencies for all station projects
  • Ensure that the terms and conditions of grants are being met within the organization
  • Monitor and meet deadline dates for Foundation Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to multiple Foundations in WNY & Southern Ontario
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various community leaders, government agencies, corporate giving program partners, etc. 


What you’ll need:

  • Minimum of Bachelor degree in business, communications, public relations, English or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in writing and communications fundraising, specifically grant writing and donor relationships for non-profit organizations
  • Demonstrated successful revenue generation
  • Exceptional written, verbal, research, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional acumen and high-level of presentation ability; confident and comfortable with public-speaking including communications with government officials
  • Strong organization, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with various social media and digital platforms
  • Strong leadership capabilities and supervisory experience complimented by a highly collaborative approach working with members of the executive team
  • Demonstrated analytical-thinking skills and professional acumen to apply proper judgement in complex situations; ability to apply logic and sound reasoning fairly and consistently
  • Ability to work with various types of people with varying temperaments and skills
  • Travel requirement: approximately 20%, primarily local travel, some overnights/weekends may be required

Salary and Benefits:

This is a full-time, exempt salaried position and starting pay will be based on education, experience and interview.  Starting range: $60k - $80k.
