SBC Clinician I
Full Time School Based Clinician I
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
The
School Based Counseling (SBC) Clinician is a 10-month position responsible for the assessment and
delivery of quality service to youth and families. This is achieved by
utilizing effective clinical insight and oversight regarding family
assessments, treatment planning, safety reviews and consultations with staff,
and, when indicated, directly with families. The Clinician will work with
a team of other human service professionals to ensure that documentation
reflects a thorough assessment of the youth's/family's needs.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. In
collaboration with local community entities serving children and families or
designated school districts, administers various clinical assessments.
2. Provides counseling intervention in
individual, family, or group sessions, depending on client need.
3. Completes necessary case record paperwork according
to department procedure.
4. Carries a caseload according to Family
Services of America Accreditation standards.
5. Completes all statistical and written reports
in a thorough and timely fashion.
6. Participates in staff meetings and clinical
supervision as determined by SBC Program Manager.
7. Informs both clinical supervisor and program
manager of significant events/issues related to clients as appropriate.
8. Works collaboratively with Child Protective
Services (CPS) as need is identified.
9. Maintains current knowledge on professional
practice through reading and reasonable attendance at seminars, workshops and
conferences.
10. Notifies and maintains contact with Primary
Care Physician (PCP) as needed regarding counseling.
11. Develops community resources.
12. Networks with other school districts,
community agencies and businesses to develop monetary and people resources and
connects families/students to community resources as needed.
13. Exhibits working knowledge and application of
the DSM-V or any evolutions thereafter.
14. Is aware of and actively supports the
Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community
Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse.
15. Participates
in agency requirements/events including but not limited to: fundraising;
community events; evening and weekend requirements; affiliated school open
houses as directed by supervisor from time to time.
16. Participate at
all staff meetings.
17. Attend
mandatory training.
18. Other duties
as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or a related
field of study is required.
NYS Professional License in area of study is preferred, however,
candidates who are license eligible upon hire may be considered.
Candidates with 1-3 years of experience as a clinician are preferred.
Candidates must have thorough knowledge of the services provided, well
developed advocacy skills, and knowledge and understanding of payment processes
for services.
This person needs to be licensed eligible and obtain license after hire.
Important note: LMSW licensure is
required within one year of hire.

restrictions might apply.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Candidates must have thorough knowledge of the services provided,
including demonstrated ability to diagnose and work in group and family
settings.
Additional important note:
This role is a 10-month per
year school-based position.

Previous experience working

weather conditions throughout the counties served.

department and program wide cooperation and team work through use of
positive/constructive communication techniques.

Ability to maintain absolute
confidentiality of all records reviewed including client records, employee
records and billing records.

Proficiency and experience with
PC’s and Microsoft applications.
·
Ability to analyze and
interpret data and to handle problem resolution.
·
Possession a valid NYS Driver’s
license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance
carrier.
·
Continuous use of a reliable,
registered and insured vehicle.
·
