About
the Role:
Oversee the day-to-day development of a Steuben Prevention
Coalition whose purpose is to strengthen collaboration and increase capacity
building among communities and reduce substance abuse among youth.
Key Responsibilities:
The coordinator may perform a combination of some or all the
below listed responsibilities that are specifically related to the DFC Grant.
The coordinator’s tenure in the position is restricted to the life of the
grant.
- Enhance Steering Committee to include leadership and
representation from the community as well as the 12 sectors identified
within Drug Free Communities Support Program.
- The Program Coordinator will submit to the Steering
Committee monthly Activity Reports detailing major accomplishments and
concerns related to the Drug Free Communities Support Program.
- The Program Coordinator will serve as the primary
contact with the funding agency on programmatic and fiscal matters.
- The Program Coordinator will supervise all DFC staff,
consultants and volunteers.
- The Program Coordinator in conjunction with Steering
Committee will be responsible for fiscal oversight of the grant budget and
will monthly meet with fiscal agent representatives too review
expenditures and status of each line item.
- The Program Coordinator will facilitate all committees
created under the grant project.
- The Program Coordinator will attend meetings of
organizations and coalitions related to the mission and goals of the grant
project.
- Schedule community meetings or forums to increase
community awareness of and promote the Steuben Prevention Coalition and
its mission through monthly public information media exposures such as
press releases, radio talk shows and regular columns in local newspapers.
- Build capacity for expansion of comprehensive prevention
programming, present needs assessment and resource assessment data to entire community of
stakeholders.
- Oversee development of and revising of the Strategic
Prevention Action Plan, with Evaluator and sector work groups to complete
needs assessment, resource assessment, gaps analysis and identify
potential interventions.
- Identify new members and leadership for sector
groups. Guide sector groups involvement in the development of specific
strategies to be implemented under the Strategic Prevention Action Plan
- Build capacity for expansion of science-based prevention
programming, present needs assessment and
- resource assessment data to school superintendents,
school boards and PTA/PTO.
- To Research and select a Risk & Protective
instrument to be used to gather student data every two years.
- To develop COSER agreement with GST BOCES to secure
funding for the implementation of Risk & Protective survey.
- To coordinate and oversee the implementation of the Risk
& Protective survey in school districts across Steuben County.
- Develop and present Risk & Protective Survey data to
school district administration, school boards and communities.
- The Program Coordinator will make presentations on
project development and sustainability.
- Oversee development of sustainability plan to be
implemented by the Steuben Prevention Coalition and sector work groups
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- One-year experience of a similar capacity.
Relevant combination of
education and experience will be considered
Preferred Skills:
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Good working knowledge of community resources and
services.
- Knowledge of substance abuse issues.
- Ability to present to large groups of diverse people.
- Adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and
regulations including, but not limited to, those governing confidentiality,
privacy, program, billing and documentation standards. All duties must be
performed in accordance with CCDR’s corporate compliance and ethics
program.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication
skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
- Willingness to foster agency, department and program
wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive
communication techniques.
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about all
records reviewed including consumer records, employee records and billing
records.
- Proficiency and experience with PC’s and Microsoft
applications.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and to handle
problem resolution.
- Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license and a
driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.
- Continuous use of a reliable, registered and insured
vehicle.
- Demonstrate commitment to Agency Mission Statement.
- Provide effective, equitable, understandable and
respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse
cultural health beliefs and practices, preferred languages, health
literacy and other communication needs.
