Food Bank of the Southern Tier Seeks a Warehouse Driver

Salary: $21.00 - $21.50 per hour, based on experience

Full-time: 37.5 hours/week, work schedule: Monday – Thursday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm and Friday, 6:30 am to 12:00 pm

The Food Bank provides a comprehensive benefits package (see below) to our full-time workforce members who work 30 or more hours per week.

 

Primary Functions:

The Warehouse Driver is primarily responsible for the safe operation of the Food Bank vehicles (including Refrigerated Trucks) used in the acquisition and distribution of food products to member agencies and other affiliated associates of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier (FBST). In addition, the Warehouse Driver is also responsible for performing various manual tasks associated with warehouse operations, including picking orders, unloading deliveries, operating warehouse equipment, and general maintenance and cleanup.

 

Specific Duties:

·        Responsible for pulling orders from the warehouse, loading trucks, and delivering products to scheduled sites.

·        Pick up local donations and deliver orders to member agencies throughout the multi-county service area promptly and professionally.

·        Assists in unloading and loading products onto/from trucks.

·        Assures accuracy of quantity as well as the quality of deliverables.

·        Inspect product donations to ensure that safety and sanitation standards are met.

·        Maintain rapport with vendors/donors and/or their employees to foster continued support and a professional working relationship. When working on their premises, abide by vendor/donors' personnel and food safety policies.

·        Commit to upholding policies, principles, and best practices for food safety and assist in verifying food safety standards are met for products and packaging materials through visual inspections, product handling, and temperature monitoring when applicable.

·        Ensure all required documentation for compliance and food safety is complete, accurate, and current.

·        Safely operates the Food Bank vehicle (s) while maintaining optimal operating levels, including oil, gas, fluid levels, battery, tires, etc., and reports any problems to their supervisor.

·        Completes required paperwork such as daily mileage logs, trip logs, fuel logs, temperature logs, and safety checks along with all required pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.

·        Understand the personal responsibility to follow all safety policies and health rules, programs, and procedures, report all unsafe acts, environments, or behaviors immediately, and always report safety issues, incidents, or accidents immediately.

·        Maintain all current licenses, certifications, and medical cards in accordance/compliance with FBST, State, and Federal requirements.

·        Operates motorized forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment within the warehouse safely, efficiently, and in accordance with FBST policies and OSHA regulations.

·        Perform cleaning of vehicle (s) and equipment.

·        Performs various general warehouse duties, including packing customer orders, unloading deliveries, re-packing food products, and general maintenance duties in the warehouse, office, common areas, and grounds.

·        Work with other team members in a cooperative and supportive way. For example, providing assistance and fill-in coverage for other positions.

·         Assists in the daily operation of the warehouse and other related activities as required.

·        Other duties as assigned.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

Qualifications:

·        High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

·        Minimum 1-year experience working in a warehouse and/or product distribution center as a driver and/or general warehouse worker is required.

·        CDL Class A license required.

·        Certified forklift operator or willing to obtain certification.

·        ServSafe certified or willing to become certified.

·        Occasionally lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

·        Pass alcohol and drug testing in accordance with the Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
