We’re looking for a Director of Building Services!

 

What you’ll be doing:

The Director, Building Services is a vital role that oversees all building administrative and engineering operations of the main location in Buffalo, NY and satellite office in Toronto, Ontario (Canada).  This individual prepares the operational and capital budgets for the department and monitors the budget regularly, negotiates and administers building services contracts with vendors/contractors, and acts as the liaison between BTPM and building tenants.  The individual will primarily work on-site and is responsible for being on-call in the event of the occasional emergency or security issue outside of our Monday through Friday office hours.  In summary, this individual will:

  • Manage all aspects of building services operations and is the subject matter expert of all related areas
  • Oversee the maintenance of various building systems (e.g. electrical, mechanical, HVAC, alarm, exterior grounds, elevators, plumbing, access control, etc.)
  • Work with outside contractors for maintenance and repair of the building and systems
  • Provide building services support for events
  • Regularly inspect building life support systems to make sure they are in good working condition and ensures that facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards
  • Maintain valid certification to operate a fork lift and sky jack/aerial lift; may be assigned to train others on the use of the sky jack/aerial lift
  • Supervise department personnel (assistant and reception)

 

What you’ll need:

  • High School diploma; advanced degree in applicable field a plus
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in facility/building maintenance operations
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience managing teams/crews
  • Technical certification or training in commercial building electric power & HVAC systems
  • Thorough familiarity with AutoCAD LT, Access Control, HVAC, and CCTV
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office
  • Must have an active, valid driver license with acceptable driving record and have the ability to travel across the international border to Canada
  • Ability to operate power tools and machines (e.g. snow blower, hand tools, Billy Goat, HVAC test system, etc)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently both inside and outside of the building in all reasonable conditions

Salary and Benefits:

This is an exempt, salaried position and starting pay will be based on education, experience and interview.  Starting range: $64K - $80K.
