Primary Functions:

The residential overnight worker provides continuous monitoring of residents throughout the night to ensure their safety, including basic cleaning ensuring overall cleanliness of the facility. In the event residents are awake during the night, the overnight staff will address any issues they may have and provide necessary assistance. Position may be full time or part time.

 

Specific Duties:

·         Monitor the residents during overnight hours; completing room checks every two hours.

·         Provide a home-like atmosphere where residents can stabilize their psychiatric illness and continue to learn how to best utilize the skills necessary to function in the community, ie; daily living skills, med management, socialization, etc.

·         Focusing on rehabilitative care, ensure services are consistent with the individuals’ desires, tolerance, and capacity to participate in such services.

·         Provide direction and support to residents by assisting with crisis situations as they arise.

·         Complete all necessary documentation and incident reporting, related to crisis situations.

·         Document progress notes pertaining to significant events involving residents, resident’s medications, or staff’s interaction with residents.

·         Implement and follow the Community Residence’s medication policy and procedures.

·         Complete shift logs and ensure overnight assignment sheet activities are completed by the end of each shift.

·         Provide basic cleaning of general living areas and bathrooms, empty trash, load and unload dishwasher, complete laundry, etc.

·         Remove food items from freezer needed for next day’s meal preparation, account for all sharp knives and utensils locked in staff office and check thermostats in freezer and refrigerators, logging the temperatures nightly.

·         If working Tuesday or Saturday overnight, count and record all medications locked in the staff office.

·         Attend staff meetings, whenever possible, and/or read minutes from staff meetings.

·         Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

·         Ability to work independently and remain awake throughout the duration of each overnight shift worked.

·         Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.

·         Willingness to foster agency, department and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive communication techniques.

·         Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of all records reviewed including consumer records, employee records and billing records.

·         Proficiency and experience with PC’s and Microsoft applications.

·         Ability to analyze and interpret data and to handle problem resolution.

·         Demonstrate commitment to Agency Mission Statement.

·         Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.

·         Continuous use of a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle.

·         Working knowledge of community resources and funding systems external to the agency.

·         Ability to understand the concept of “mandated reporter” and is diligent in reporting situations to the proper authorities when residents may be at risk for abuse and/or neglect.

·         Correctly follow procedures for mandated reporting and responding.

·         Adhere to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to, those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing, and documentation standards. All duties must be performed in accordance with CCDR’s corporate compliance and ethics program.

·         Provide effective, equitable, understandable, and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and practices, preferred languages, health literacy and other communication needs.

Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation:

·         Use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment, including motor vehicles.

·         Stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.

·         Climb up or down stairs.

·         Able to reach above or below shoulders.

·         Occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 10 lbs.

·         Sitting at a desk or in a vehicle for long periods of time to perform certain job functions.

·         Be able to read, write and interpret written documents.

Position Title:  Residential Overnight Worker

Salary: $18/hour.

Schedule: Overnights, 25 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor’s degree in human services field.

·         Minimum of two years’ experience working in the field with diverse and special needs populations.

·         A combination of education and experience may be substituted at the discretion of the Executive Director.
