About
the Role:
The Overnight Counselor Assistant is an awake position. The
overnight counselor is responsible for the safety of the residents and
facilities between the hours of 10 PM and 8:00 AM. The overnight counselor
provides counseling and emergency services as needed. The overnight
counselor provides Quality Assurance services as designated by the Program
Director and Program Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Observes behavior and insures the maintenance of appropriate
conduct.
2. Provides for the safety and integrity of the facility at all
times.
3. Ensures all records are locked and medications are stored and
monitored according to program policy.
4. Ensures the adherence of confidentiality regulations.
5. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with residents,
staff and community professionals.
6. Provides crisis management as needed. Has the ability to
identify symptoms of decomposition and develop strategies to address
concerns with appropriate treatment providers.
7. Maintains professional practices and adheres to Agency’s
policies and procedures.
8. Performs other related tasks as assigned.
9. Does not leave the facility unattended without the verbal
consent of the Program Supervisor.
Night Counselor Responsibilities: Daily
Check the medication log for the following:
1. Identifies and counts all controlled medications.
2. Checks medication log to insure counselors are documenting
missed medications in both the log and the resident’s progress notes.
3. Places a shift entry in the daily log. Notes any concerns in the
log and/or progress notes.
Night Counselor responsibilities: Weekly
1. Counts all medication at the beginning of each week and forward
a report to the Clinical supervisor.
2. Prepares the weekly case review list. Send copies to case
managers and Clinical Supervisor.
3. Compiles drug screening data and advises the Clinical
Supervisor.
4. Prepares the room list at the beginning of each week. Posts copy
in the office. Faxes or e-mails copies to the
business office to the attention of bookkeeper and the Residential
Services Director.
Night counselor responsibilities: Monthly
1. Audits all of the charts of residents discharged within thirty
days of discharge. If charts are not complete, make list deficiencies and
give a copy to both the counselor and the program supervisor. As soon as
counselors inform you they have completed all assigned work, break the
chart down and move them to the closed files.
2. Prepares the next month’s medication sheet on the last work
shift of the month.
3. Organizes the bulletin boards in the office and hallway. Keeps
postings current.
4. Collects monthly work readiness reports from counselors and
complete report. Sends report to Program
Director.
Night counselor responsibilities: Semiyearly or yearly
1. Audits 50% of the active records twice a year (June and
December). Records results on the program audit tools then give the
program supervisor the completed reports. Lists the audited charts on the audit
log sheet in the Quality Assurance notebook. Sends a copy of the log sheet
to the Program Director by January 1st.
2. Prepares a summary of the resident surveys collected throughout
the previous year. Sends the summarized report to the Program Director by
March 1st
3. Completes “county of origin reports” for both the CR and SLP.
Sends reports to the Program Director by March 1st
4. Completes the unplanned discharge report detailing reasons for
unplanned discharges. Sends this report to Program Director by March 1st
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required.
- Must be 21 years of age per Justice Center
·
Training specific to CD will be
required within the first year of hire
·
CASAC-t
preferred.
·
Ability
to operation program vehicles.
·
Related/residential
experience in chemical dependency or human services field.
Relevant combination of education and experience will be
considered
Preferred Skills:
·
Adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and
regulations including, but not limited to, those governing confidentiality,
privacy, program, billing and documentation standards. All duties must be
performed in accordance with CCDR’s corporate compliance and ethics
program.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication
skills.
·
Previous experience working with diverse populations,
including low to moderate- income families.
·
Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
·
Willingness to foster agency, department and program
wide cooperation and team work through use of positive/constructive
communication techniques.
·
Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in
regards to all records reviewed including client records, employee records
and billing records.
·
Proficiency and experience with PC’s and Microsoft
applications.
·
Ability to analyze and interpret data and to handle
problem resolution.
·
Possession of
a valid driver’s license and a driver’s record considered acceptable by agency
and insurance carrier.
