Position: Accountant

Status:
Full-time, Salaried/Exempt, for 37.5 hours per week with benefits
Job Function:
Utilize accounting and
spreadsheet software to accurately maintain the general ledger, reconcile
general ledger accounts, manage grants and contracts, conduct monthly and
year-end closing procedures, and prepare monthly financial statements using
generally accepted accounting principles. The Accountant will assist the Fiscal
Director with the Agency audit, budget, and the preparation of state and
federal financial filings.
Essential
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Prepare and enter
monthly general journal entries.
·
Maintain worksheets
used to allocate shared expenses on AP invoices and prepaid expenses.
- Process end of month
closing, allocation and revenue entries by the 6th of each month.
- Reconcile
general ledger balance sheet accounts.

Work with the
Transactional Accountant to ensure accurate financial coding.
·
Serve as back-up to review and post all entries
made into Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable entered by Transactional
Accountants.
- Review and submit payroll inputted
by Transactional Accountant and Online Timesheets using a payroll service.
- Import Medicaid billing
into the Financial AR system.
- Serve as back-up to enter
cash receipts into the Accounts Receivable system.
- Disburses petty cash and
ensures proper documentation is received to support expenditure.

Serve as a backup to
the accounts receivable, payable and payroll
functions.

Ensure Agency and
grant/contract policies are followed.
·
Track and verify
grant/contract expenses, report grant/contract expenses to funders, record revenues,
and manage accounts receivable related to grants and contracts.

Work with program directors,
staff, and external parties to coordinate fiscal activities ensuring accurate
and useful financials and accounting reports.

Assist in developing
annual agency budget and individual grant budgets and monitoring and analyzing actual results versus budget.

Assist in the
preparation of grant applications and other requests for proposals.
·
Assist with annual
agency audit and various program audits.
·
Monitor, explore and
propose improvement to current processes.
Education
and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) preferred in Accounting,
Business Administration, or related field with minimally two (2) years’ accounting
experience in a non-profit or grant-funded environment, including advanced
experience in audit, budget, and financial statement preparation. Associate's
degree (A.A./A.S.) in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
with minimally three to five (3-5) years’ experience, or equivalent combination
of education and experience.
Physical Demands & Work
Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee
is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands
to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally
lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision.
The noise level in the work
environment is usually moderate.
