The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing Human Resources related tasks including but not limited to, providing general HR support, recruitment, staffing, benefits and leave administration, performance management, compliance, HRIS and policy management as well as other functions in support of the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways mission.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:

 

·         Primary point of contact for general staff HR questions and provide support relating to policies and procedures.

 

·         Administer the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource Department by establishing positive working relationships and communication with staff. Exhibit positive leadership qualities both within the organization and when representing the organization to the community.

 

·         Administer the Council’s human resource programs including, but not limited to, benefits and leave; compensation; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

 

·         Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.

 

·         Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to leadership.

 

·         Administer all benefit programs, including open enrollment, new hires, and terminations.

 

·         Provide support to the recruitment process and execution of the workforce planning strategy, including posting jobs, interviewing, job offers, running background checks, and ensuring comprehensive onboarding efforts for all council staff, including seasonal, temporary, and interns, as well as conducting new hire orientations and ensures are required paperwork is complete.

 

·         Identify training needs for staff and participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.

 

·         Review and accurately process payroll and benefits documents in a timely manner. This includes but is not limited to status change forms, salary changes and retro pay; input of forms into payroll and/or benefits system, and process garnishments.

 

·         Conduct new hire and annual anti-harassment training, corrective discipline training, and other training initiatives.

 

·         Manages all leave of absence programs.

 

·         Manage and record all Workers’ Compensation injuries and post OSHA 300 log.

 

       ·         Perform other related duties as requested.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

  • No direct reports.

 

 Minimum Qualification Standards:

·        Four (4) years of relevant experience working in a fast-paced HR department preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.

·         PHR or SHRM certification a plus.

·         Must have and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s license.

·         Travel to other services centers/camps required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

·     Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office suite, spreadsheets and generating reports using standard software applications.

·    Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously.

·     Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

·    Ability to maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.

·    Ability to create, compose, edit and present written materials.

·      Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

·    Strong written and oral communication skills.

·    Ability to develop, plan, and implement short-and long-term goals.

·    Ability to work productively in a fast paced environment.

     ·   Adhere to all COVID-19 protocols required by NYS Department of Health and GSNYPENN and proof of             COVID-19 vaccination is required subject to legally valid exemptions.
