Industrial Painter

Summary of Responsibilities

We start by having the right people in-house.  To that we add strategic partners who are industry leaders in automation technology.  By bringing everything together, we’re able to consistently integrate ingenious customized solutions that solve the toughest materials handling challenges.  The Industrial Painter contributes to this by preparing and painting factory automation, conveyor, and crane systems, according to project specifications.

Essential Duties            

The Industrial Painter plays a vital role in the ongoing success of Han-Tek.  Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs.  The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:


§  Prepares industrial equipment for painting, ensuring a smooth surface using sandpaper, brushes, steel wool, sanding machines and solvents

§  Applies primer or sealers to prepare paint surface for finishing coats

§  Applies enamel paint as specified in project work orders

§  Mixes and matches color of paint, stain, or varnish with oil or thinning and drying additives to obtain the desired color and consistency

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements

Based on the technical and professional responsibilities of this position, the Technician – Mechanical is required to have the following qualifications:


§  High school diploma or GED

§  3-5 years’ relevant experience

§  Equivalent combination of education and experience with integrated material handling and/or automation systems

§  Forklift certification preferred

§  OSHA 10 hour-General Industry preferred

§  Strong attention to detail

§  Ability to interact with employees in a professional manner

Physical and Environmental

The Industrial Painter is located primarily in a production environment, but may experience other conditions while on-site at a customer’s a regular basis.  Physical requirements include:


§  Moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds)

§  Use of potentially hazardous machinery

§  Use of power tools

§  Exposure to fumes from painting supplies and other chemicals used throughout production and installation

§  Exposure to loud noise

§  Proper safety equipment must be worn including:

o   Safety glasses

o   Steel-toed boots

o   Use of a respirator and other safety equipment while painting

§  Awareness of potential hazards, such as nearby machinery, while in the shop or at a customer location

§  Customer locations may require appropriate safety equipment to be used
