We’re looking for a Grant Writer!


What you’ll be doing:

The Grant Writer is instrumental in raising grant support from foundations, corporations, and government sources, which requires writing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects, inclusive of programmatic, capital and production projects.  This individual is responsible for researching, drafting, and finalizing the timely submission of grant proposals, stewardship reports, and written correspondence. This position can be hybrid – a blend of remote and in-office work. In summary, this individual will:

  • Be responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, corporate, and government sources
  • Collaborate with various departments to research, collect information, and draft materials such as program narrative, objectives, budget and impact reports related to organizational funding priorities
  • Performs research on foundations, corporations, and government sources to evaluate prospects for funding
  • Comply with all grant reporting
  • Assist with stewardship to current donors and other fundraising projects as assigned


What you’ll need:

·         Minimum of:

                                                  i.      Bachelor degree in English, creative writing, communications or related field plus one (1) year of grant writing or foundation fundraising experience; OR

                                                 ii.      Three (3) years of grant writing or foundation fundraising experience

·         Strong organization, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

·         Detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

·         Exceptional written, verbal, research, communication and interpersonal skills

·         Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office

·         Familiarity with grant applications and reporting systems such as Foundant, Fluxx, NYS Grants Gateway, and other online portals preferred

·         Familiarity and hands-on experience with various social media and digital platforms desired

Salary and Benefits:

This is a full-time, exempt salaried position and starting pay will be based on education, experience and interview.  Starting range: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour.
