Driver and Maintenance

Catholic Charities of Steuben has an amazing opportunity for a full time Driver and Maintenance person. This person will transport clients to treatment programs in facility vehicle as well as perform maintenance duties.

This job requires someone that has past driver experience and having past work in transportation of individuals is a plus!

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Vehicles:
1. Coordinates transportation schedule with residents.
2. Provides transportation to day treatment programs, job interviews, vocational and educational programming.
3. Schedules routine maintenance for vans and reports any vehicle damage or problems to supervisor immediately.
4. Picks up and delivers purchased items as needed.
5. Keeps a log of vehicle expenses/fuel.
6. Trains new staff in the safe operation of program vehicles.
Facility:
1. Performs general maintenance and repairs broken items as needed.
2. Notifies supervisor of need to contact and arrange services of contractors (i.e. plumbers, electricians) of major repairs/problems.
3. Assesses facility emergencies.
4. Conducts monthly maintenance inspections.
5. Conducts monthly fire/safety inspections and fire drills in accordance with agency and local policy. Periodic testing of safety equipment/alarms.
6. Conducts a bi-weekly inventory and order of janitorial supplies.
7. Assists staff in overseeing the resident’s performance of chores and general upkeep of facility.
8. Coordinates yearly spring cleaning and planting project.
9. Keeps a log of service calls, appliance warranties, etc.
10. Insures safety by making sure emergency lighting works inside and outside the house. Exits and entrances are safe and free of obstacles and/or slippery surfaces.
Grounds:
1. Performs seasonal landscaping and grounds keeping work.
2. Coordinates snow removal needs and uses resident workforce whenever possible.
3. Ensures the generator is operating properly and tests equipment regularly during the winter season when power outages might be a greater possibility.
4. Appoints and carefully supervises residents who are assisting in any of the above.
Miscellaneous
1. Maintains professional practices.
2. Adheres to policy and procedures, and performs other related tasks as assigned.
3. Purchases and transports food for the CR meal planning
4. Purchases and dispenses dry good and cleaning supplies for both the CR and SLP programs.
5. Performs other related tasks as assigned.

TITLE OF DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Clinical Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED with a clean driver’s license and maintenance experience.

EXPERIENCE:
Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems. Basic understanding and acceptance of alcoholism and substance abuse. Willingness to attend appropriate training.

1. Knowledge and support of the routines and practices common in the Community Residence setting and/or field of Chemical Dependency.
2. Effective communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with residents and residential staff.
3. Maintains professional boundaries with residents.
4. Observes and reports concerns regarding resident behavior or rule infractions to the immediate supervisor.
5. Adheres to Catholic Charities agency and program policy and procedures.
