Resident Assistant, PCA, HHA
Resident Assistants are
central to the mission of Ivy Lodge.
They help residents with a variety of daily activities, including basic
activities of daily living such as assistance with bathing dressing and
grooming. At Ivy Lodge all Resident
Assistants are “universal workers” who lead recreational activities, serve
meals, and do housekeeping.
Qualifications:
Resident Assistants must have
completed, at minimum, the state approved 40-hour Resident Care Assistant
Training. Personal Care Assistant (PCA),
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) Certification are
preferred. Resident Assistants must be
able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be COVID vaccinated.
Orientation Training:
All staff will receive on-line
and in-person orientation, as well as at least three days of on-the-floor
mentoring by one of our Resident Assistant Mentors.
Job Tasks:
Day and evening staff will
typically have an assignment of 5 or more residents for whom they are
particularly responsible during their shift, and for whom they will be the
primary providers of personal care and medication assistance.
In addition, day and evening
shift Resident Assistants will participate in serving meals and doing
housekeeping tasks, as well as leading activities. They may also be assigned to drive residents
to doctor’s appointments, shopping or outside activities. Overnight Resident Assistants will have
housekeeping and laundry duties in addition to completing rounds and toileting
checks, and assisting residents on an as-needed basis.
Personal Care tasks
including: assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation,
medication reminders. Ivy Lodge has an Enhanced Assisted Living license which
allow us to accept and retain residents who need assistance, including
two-person assistance, with transfers.
While we have full time
cooks, dishwashers and housekeeping staff, Resident assistants also help with
preparing meals, setting tables, plating meals to the resident’s
specifications, serving food and beverages, washing dishes, cleaning food
service areas. They also assist with
laundry, changing beds, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning the bathroom,
doing personal laundry and linens, changing light bulbs, and taking out trash.
Ivy Lodge has a full time
Activity Director and part time activity assistant. In addition, Resident
Assistants may engage in activities such as leading a word game, a musical
activity or reminiscence discussion. Resident assistants may also be required
to drive residents to the doctor, or accompany them on shopping trips or
recreational events if they have a clean driver’s license.
Hours:
Resident Assistants typically
work 4 to 5 8-hour shifts per week. We seek to maintain consistency in shift
assignments and hours worked for the benefit of the residents and for staff
member’s work/life balance.

Salary Range: $15.00 - $19.00
