About the Role:
The Housing Assistant, along with the Housing Caseworker, supports homeless and at-risk individuals and families by providing housing counseling, connecting them with community resources, and promoting long-term stability. This position requires flexibility, excellent communication skills, and a client-centered approach to ensure that all participants are treated with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provides housing case management services to DSS-referred clients, including assessments, referrals, and intake sessions, with one half-day per week on-site at DSS.
• Conducts weekly visits with homeless clients to assess needs and provide resources, follow-up support, assist clients with budgeting and financial goal setting.
• Provides transportation for clients during move-ins, move-outs, and to housing opportunities.
• Maintains communication with DSS contacts as needed.
• Ensures all client interactions are thoroughly documented in the client intake database, maintaining accurate and up-to-date case notes.
• Understands the contract between CCSL and DSS.
• Attends CCSL staff meetings, and other required meetings
• Attends CCSL functions as appropriate
• Ensures that all CCSL clients are treated with dignity and respect, always upholding their confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Credentials: Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier
Experience: Experience working within in a human services setting preferred.
Relevant combination of education and experience will be considered
