Nutritionist
CAPCO’s
Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Program is searching for a passionate
Nutritionist to join their team! The Nutritionist work with Cortland County’s
low-income families to improve the household’s overall health by utilizing WIC
benefits, infant feeding, prenatal/postnatal nutrition, and other basic early
childhood care. Previous Nutrition experience not required, please see
qualifications and requirements for more information.
Position: Nutritionist
Program: Women, Infants, and Children
(WIC)
Reports to: WIC Director
Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday 11am-7pm,
Tuesday-Friday 8am-4pm; 37.5 hours per week
Starting
Wage: $20
– $21 per hour
Job Function: Provides nutrition
assessments as well as counseling to low-income women, infants and children
with dietary, medical and health risks and coordinates breastfeeding activities
by performing the following duties.
Nutritionist Duties and
Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for conducting
nutritional assessments
- Provides nutrition education and
diet counseling to WIC clients.
- Develops appropriate individualized
nutrition education plans for clients
- Tailors and authorizes food
packages for participants.
- Provides instruction on use of
farmer’s market coupons and promotes the use of fresh fruits and
vegetables.
- Responsible for documentation of
nutrition services.
- Assist with the development of the
annual Local Agency Compliance and Self-Assessment Plan.
Qualifications and Requirements: Registered Dietician (RD), Nutrition and Dietetics Technician (DTR,
NDTR), Registered Nurse (BSN); or Bachelor’s degree in an health-related field
with at least 6 credit hours in nutrition; must receive approval of NYS Health
Department to work as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA). Ability to complete Certified Lactation Consultant course within one (1) year of date of
hire if desired.
