Position: Classroom Substitute

Program: Head Start/Early Head Start

Reports to: Classroom Supervisor

Status: Variable Hours, up to 37.5 hours per week

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm

Hourly Wage: $14.20 per hour

 

Job Function: Under guidance of the Classroom Supervisor or Education Assistant plan and coordinate the administration and implementation of the Educational Services Functional Area of the Performance Standards and other education requirements by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Must work cooperatively with the center staff to facilitate daily activities in the absence of a center staff person.
  • Responsible for the health and safety of the children in the center, on the playground, in the gym, and on field trips.
  • Provides active supervision to children
  • Assist with snack and mealtimes. Helps prepare snack and meals. Acts as a role model and eats with the children.
  • Helps in dealing with the daily center chores and services
  • Promotes positive behavior guidance to all children.
  • Maintains professionalism, uses appropriate language

Qualifications and Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prefer related experience and/or training in a child care setting. Should have a strong desire to work with children birth – 5 years old. Acceptable NYS Driver's License. Clearance through the NYS Maltreatment Registry. Must complete Dare Care regulation trainings, Initial Day Care Physical Exam and TB Testing, and Fingerprint clearance for criminal background check.
