IT Specialist
Join the Western New
York & Pennsylvania Railroad team as the IT Specialist in charge of maintaining
and improving the technical systems used to ensure all employees have the technology
they need to complete their work and the company’s important files and
information remain safe and intact. The Railroad has been serving our freight
customers with pride and distinction since 1965 and we are looking for someone
with a positive attitude and a desire to join our team. The main office is in Olean, NY, the largest
city in Cattaraugus County which serves as its financial, business,
transportation and entertainment center.
Position Overview: Responsible
for the configuration, deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting of
all hardware/software and maintaining the integrity and security of the network
infrastructure, communications, and surveillance systems. This position reports to the Technology
and Communications Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
ü Maintain the
integrity and security of the corporate network, firewalls, switches, servers,
and workstations
ü Configure, deploy
and maintain the appropriate software and hardware on all systems, including
servers, workstations, mobile devices, security system, locomotive and property
cameras, and radio communications
ü Manage vendors assisting with aspects
of the railroad computer and communication infrastructure
ü Manage employee computer accounts,
access control, building access and security
ü Install, diagnose and repair wired,
wireless, and cloud-based infrastructure
ü Provide support to
the employees in a timely and professional manner
ü Identify computer or
network equipment deficiencies and communicate opportunities for improvement
ü Continuously analyze
current processes, technologies, and vendors to identify areas of improvement
ü Preserve assets by
implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security
and control structures
ü Ensure cost
effectiveness
ü Perform other duties
as assigned such as assisting C&S department in the maintenance of grade
crossing devices, and assisting Maintenance of Way department with flagging
services
Qualifications:
ü
AAS in Computer Information Systems or
similar field or
o
Two years of proven
work experience in the IT area
ü Strong understanding of networking layers, vlans,
firewalls, VPNs
ü Experience with Microsoft Active Directory environments –
DNS, DHCP, GPO, WSUS, DFS
ü Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Azure
environments
ü Experience with networking equipment – pfSense, Cisco,
Ubiquiti, MikroTik
ü Experience with hypervisors – VMware, XCP-NG
ü Experience with Linux environments – Ubuntu, Zabbix,
Graylog, Snipe-IT
ü Knowledge of programming/scripting – PowerShell
ü Knowledge of technical management,
information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
ü Problem-solving and decision-making skills
while using good judgement
ü Strong interpersonal skills
