Impaired Driver Program (IDP) Instructor


PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

To deliver standardized curriculum as approved by the DMV. The purpose of IDP is to educate, screen, assess drivers to reduce the threat to the lives and well-being of the citizens of the state. 


Position Title: Impaired Driver Program (IDP) Instructor

Salary:  $19- $27 an Hr. based on experience 

Schedule: Per Diem Hours


SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Facilitate DMV developed curriculums for 16 hours over seven weeks, or other formats allowed by DMV.

2. Complete the required paperwork required for course completion.

3. Complete required trainings as assigned.

4. Other duties as assigned

TITLE OF DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Prevention Services Program Manager QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Associates Degree Required, Bachelors Preferred. Minimum of 1 year experience in classroom/group experience required. 

Candidate must be approved by NYS Department of Motor Vehicles 


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to, those governing confidentiality, privacy, program, billing and documentation standards. All duties must be performed in accordance with CCDR’s corporate compliance and ethics program.

Working knowledge of the IDP curriculum goals and concepts.

Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.

Continuous use of a reliable, registered and insured vehicle.

Demonstrate commitment to Agency Mission Statement.

Required Competencies:

Facilitative, discussion-oriented instruction skills

Communication skills, oral and written

Ability to establish rapport with class participants

Organization of materials in a written lesson plan and in class presentations

Participation in ongoing curriculum training

Obtaining active class involvement with the activities, information and concepts set forth in the curriculum and instructor guide

Be able to make necessary adjustments in presentation to be sure information is well understood by all participants

Create a classroom atmosphere of trust and one that helps students participate in educational activities and understand the information and concepts

Knowledgeable in programs such as Zoom, Teams, word processing, internet usage and online teaching portals. 

Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation:

Use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment, including motor vehicle;

Stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach;

Climb up or down stairs;

Able to reach above or below shoulders;

Occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 10 lbs;

Sitting at a desk or in a vehicle for long periods of time to perform certain job functions;

Be able to read write and interpret written documents;
