1:1 Classroom Aide

CAPCO’s Head Start/Early Head Start program is in need a Special Education 1-on-1 Classroom Aide to assist until June 1, 2023. This position works to enhance the academic and social functioning on their assigned child throughout their Head Start/Early Head Start experience. Position: 1:1 Classroom Aide

Program: Head Start/Early Head Start

Reports to: Education/Special Needs Coordinator

Status: Part Time, Temporary through June 1, 2023

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30am-2:30pm or 9am-3pm, 30 hours per week

Hourly Wage: $14.50 per hour

 

Job Function: To enhance the academic and social functioning of the assigned child, while maintaining that child’s safety and security in the classroom setting. This will be done in compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards, program policies and procedures, and state and county regulations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned).

  • To familiarize themself with the assigned child, including, but not limited to their strengths and challenges in the classroom setting.
  • To familiarize themself with all program policies and procedures related to positive behavior supports
  • To familiarize themself with the child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and to assist the child’s teachers and service providers in the implementation of this plan, 
  • To familiarize themself with the child’s Positive Behavior Support Plan, and to assist the child’s teachers and service providers in the implementation of this plan.
  • To assist in the creation and maintenance of observational records.
  • To attend meetings with the Pyramid Team, teaching team, and family as requested.
  • To attend meetings held by the Committee on Preschool Special Education as requested.
  • To attend in-service and regional trainings when such trainings are deemed appropriate by immediate supervisor and/or program director.
  • To be a positive role model for assigned child. Such modeling includes, but is not limited to, appropriate social interactions, appropriate movement through classroom routine, and appropriate meal time behavior
  • To familiarize themself with agency procedures for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect.
  • To promote positive public relations of the CAPCO Head Start/Early Head Start program services to staff, families and the community at large.

 

Qualifications and Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, experience working with pre-school children.

 

Acceptable NYS Driver's License. Clearance through the NYS Maltreatment Registry. Must complete Dare Care regulation trainings, Initial Day Care Physical Exam and TB Testing, Fingerprint clearance for criminal background check.
