Physician Assistant or General Nurse Practitioner

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a Licensed Physician Assistant OR Licensed Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner in New York State with a Master's Degree in Physician Assistant studies or Nursing from an accredited college or university. Individuals with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or other psychiatric specialty designation a plus. Must hold a valid NYS license and a current DEA registration that includes Schedule III authority to prescribe buprenorphine for the treatment of OUD AND show evidence of completing at least 8 training hours in the identification and treatment of substance use disorders. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and computer competency/fluency. Reliable transportation required; valid NYS driver's license preferred.
The Physician Assistant or General Nurse Practitioner is
part of an interdisciplinary team and is knowledgeable about evidence-based
practices for substance use disorder (SUD) assessments. This position is
responsible for evaluating physical health, mental health, and substance use
disorders, making recommendations for team-wide treatment interventions, and
direct implemention of medical interventions. The successful candidate is
familiar with DSM-5 and LOCADTR, and has experience with evidence-based
treatments and medication interventions for SUD withdrawal and stabilization.
JOB DUTIES

Complete medical
assessments to determine medical conditions, substance use disorders, and
mental health disorders;

Evaluate symptoms of
substance use disorders and mental health disorders;
·
Develop the medical
component of treatment/recovery plans;
·
Follow and customize
in a patient-centered manner evidence-based withdrawal protocols and progress
monitoring procedures for the Outpatient, Medically Supervised Withdrawal and
Stabilization Programs;
·
Evaluate
medication-assisted treatment needs and monitor initiation/continuation of
treatment in support of ongoing recovery and minimization of emotional
discomfort resulting from early recovery;
·
Treat, diagnose, and
prescribe for conditions that fall within the specialty area;
·
Make appropriate
medical referrals for conditions that are beyond the scope of care that can
reasonably be provided within the residence or clinic;
·
Participate in
interdisciplinary team meetings and provide medical perspective and
recommendations as appropriate.
·
Order lab tests,
review results, and share results and recommendations with residents and
outpatients;
·
Diagnose and treat
medical, psychiatric, and substance use disorders;
·
Participate in
multidisciplinary team meetings;
·
Document all medical
activities appropriately in the electronic health record;
·
Give clear directions
to nursing staff regarding expectations of nursing protocols that support
medical assessment and treatment plan;

Provide support to the
Medical Director to ensure consistent medical policies and protocols throughout
the residential programs;
·
Collaborate with
Medical Director in all cases where clinically significant questions or
deviations from protocol are present;
·
Other duties as
assigned.
Compensation:
Competitive; $60-70/hr;
