to: Classroom Supervisor
Status: Part-Time,
Non-Exempt, for 27.5 hours per week, 52 weeks
Starting
Wage: $16.50 - $17.21 per hour
Incentive: Eligible for $1000 Sign-On
Incentive (to
be paid at 90 days and 6 months)
Job Function: Assist and share the daily responsibilities with the classroom teacher
and assistant teacher in providing a secure and positive learning environment. This
environment should reflect an age-appropriate, self-learning, nurturing,
enjoyable, engaging, and a self-confident space that requires performance of
the following duties.
Essential
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties
may be assigned.

Must work cooperatively with the
center staff to facilitate daily activities in the absence of a center staff
person.
·
Has the ability to be flexible with
frequent daily schedule and location changes.
·
Responsible for the health and safety
of the children in the center, on the playground, in the gym, and on field
trips.
·
Provides active supervision to
children while keeping appropriate teacher-to-child ratio at all times.
·
Assist with snack and mealtimes. Helps
prepare snack and meals. Acts as a role model and eats with the children,
family style.
·
Must assume a helping role in dealing
with the daily center chores and services which include sweeping, sanitizing
tables and other areas, setting tables, monitor and / or assist with toileting
and tooth brushing, assisting with arrival and dismissal of children, and
monitor rest times.

Must work jointly with all staff to promote
a team approach of the delivery of Head Start services for all enrolled
children, their families, and the community at large.
·
Promote positive behavior guidance to
help children develop appropriate classroom and social interaction skills.
Practice effective behavior management skills and strategies. Utilize the
Pyramid Model framework to enhance the social and emotional development of
young children.

Maintains professionalism, uses
language appropriate for early childhood settings.
· Must follow center procedures for
reporting suspected child abuse and neglect.
· · Must attend any required orientation,
trainings, conference and meetings.

May
be requested to work one-on-one with students as needed in the classroom to
support the overall curriculum, behaviors, and classroom functions.
·
May
be re-assigned to alternate classrooms throughout the Program to provide
support as needed. Assignments may be temporary or long-term dependent on
Program-need.
Education
and/or Experience
High school
diploma or general education degree (GED/HSE); prefer related experience and/or
training in a childcare setting. Should have a strong desire to work with
children birth – 5 years old.
Certificates,
Licenses, Registrations
NYS Driver's License
preferred. Clearance through the NYS Child Abuse/Maltreatment Registry. Must
complete NYS OCFS Daycare regulation trainings as required.
Other
Qualifications
Physical Examination, TB
Testing upon hire. Comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting for
criminal background per the standards set forth by child
care licensing. Must be able to travel to all program and Agency sites,
training, visits, etc. as necessary and requested.
