Position Title:  Overnight Counselor Assistant

Salary: $17.00-18.00/hr. depending on years of experience/education level.

Schedule: Full time/35 hours per week

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Catholic Charities Steuben/Livingston has an Overnight Counselor working in one of our residential homes. The Overnight Counselor Assistant is an awake position responsible for the safety of the residents and facility between the hours of 10 PM and 8:00 AM. The overnight counselor provides counseling and emergency services as needed. The overnight counselor provides Quality Assurance services as designated by the Program Director and Program Supervisor.

Hours for overnights are flexible to work Monday through Sunday between 9pm and 8 am depending on the house needs and your schedule and availability!

We also train for CASAC and CASAC T and will pay for that!

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

·       Observes behavior and insures the maintenance of appropriate conduct.

·       Always provides for the safety and integrity of the facility.

·       Ensure all records are locked and medications are stored and monitored according to program policy.

·       Ensures the adherence of confidentiality regulations.

·       Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with residents, staff, and community professionals.

·       Provides crisis management as needed. Has the ability to identify symptoms of decomposition and develop strategies to address concerns with appropriate treatment providers.

·       Maintains professional practices and adheres to Agency’s policies and procedures.

·       Performs other related tasks as assigned.

·       Does not leave the facility unattended without the verbal consent of the Program Supervisor.

Night Counselor Responsibilities: Daily

·       Identifies and counts all controlled medications.

·       Checks medication log to ensure counselors are documenting missed medications in both the log and the resident’s progress notes.

·       Place a shift entry in the daily log. Notes any concerns in the log and/or progress notes.

Night Counselor responsibilities: Weekly

·       Counts all medication at the beginning of each week and forwards a report to the Clinical supervisor.

·       Prepares the weekly case review list. Send copies to case managers and Clinical Supervisor.

·       Compiles drug screening data and advises the Clinical Supervisor.

·       Prepares the room list at the beginning of each week. Posts copy in the office. Faxes or e-mails copies to the business office for the attention of bookkeeper and the Residential Services Director.

Night counselor responsibilities: Monthly

·       Audits all the charts of residents discharged within thirty days of discharge. If charts are not complete, make a list of deficiencies and give a copy to both the counselor and the program supervisor. As soon as counselors inform you that they have completed all assigned work, break the chart down and move it to the closed files.

·       Prepares next month’s medication sheet on the last work shift of the month.

·       Organizes the bulletin boards in the office and hallway. Keeps postings current.

·       Collects monthly work readiness reports from counselors and complete reports. Sends report to Program Director.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma required. Must be 21 years of age per Justice Center. Training specific to CD will be required within the first year of hire. CASAC-t preferred. Ability to operate program vehicles.

EXPERIENCE:

Related/residential experience in chemical dependency or human services field.
