Position: Family Development Advocate specific to Marathon Family Success Center

    Coordination

Program: Family Development

Reports to: Family Development Director

Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt, for 15-20 hours per week

Main Work Location: Marathon Central High School

 

Job Function: Assist in planning, developing, and coordinating a continuing program with resident groups, individuals, organizations, and agencies in the Marathon community for residents of all ages. Assist with the problems confronting low-income residents and hold a positive approach to their solution with the ability to communicate through public speaking and writing.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Implement Family Development process in the Marathon community through programs, community outreach, and case management with specific case load and families.

 

Provide reports to the Family Development Director as required, with all necessary information to include specific program progress, needs, and problems.

 

Keep the Family Development Director advised on unified community concerns and issues on a regular basis through scheduled meetings.

 

Maintain an efficient system of data collection and flow.

 

Assist with Community Action Angels planning and implementation including fundraising, activities, and record-keeping.

 

Plan, develop, and implement innovative approaches within the Marathon community including programs geared toward youth and families.

 

Work cooperatively with other CAPCO programs and community agencies.

 

Responsible for working with community groups and agencies to identity issues and appropriate solutions.

 

Possess functional knowledge of other local, state, and federal programs relating to low income individuals. Work with other human services agencies in order to create a more effective flow of service in the community.

 

Participate in training programs which relate to job responsibilities (i.e. Family Development Credential).

 

Responsible for coordinating the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers

 

Responsible for the overall coordination and operation of the Marathon Family Success Center.

 

Education and/or Experience   

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; plus three years experience in social work, human services or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience in developing and coordinating community initiatives to provide maximum resident participation through planned outreach activities.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

Experience in working with individuals, neighborhood groups (youth and adults) and community organizations. Ability to grasp the problems confronting low-income residents, especially fiscal challenges. Working knowledge of the family development process.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must be able to travel to various locations. Ability to work flexible hours to support the program.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
